Character Name: Clara Oswald
Canon: Doctor Who
Canon Point: s9e12, "Hell Bent" + MoM CRAU + Deerington memories
In-Game Tattoo Placement: Inside of her wrist, over her pulse point
Current Health/Status: Clara has a complicated physical condition - her body is frozen in time. While she can move around and mainly function as normal, she has no heartbeat, and she doesn't technically need to eat or breathe or sleep, outside of setting requirements. Essentially, she's in walking stasis, sort of a zombie without the actually dead bits.
Age: Physically, a couple days shy of 29. Mentally, 32.
Species: Human
History: General and character
Personality: Clara is a force of nature, packed into five feet and one inch. An incredibly brave, confident, and quite franklyĀ pluckyĀ young woman, she has a natural-born curiosity and a knack for command, and while she is often derided as being bossy or vain, it is only because she feels that sheĀ deservesĀ to be. She has a large amount of respect for herself as an individual, and is quick to call out anyone who treats her as less. In contrast to her headstrong fieriness, Clara can also be very gentle. She is kind-hearted and caring, and is especially drawn to children. She has a way with comforting them, and is shown reassuring children in distress throughout her adventures. This skill isnāt limited just to kids, though - she talks down a murderous monster by reminding him of his dead daughter. She has a quick tongue, a sharp wit, and is sometimes too mouthy for her own good, but she has a deep love for life and people. She is also clever and observant, with an attention to detail and a human sort of common sense that often doesnāt occur to her very alien best friend.
Clara's core value above all others is compassion - she's a carer at heart, and believes in being kind. Her worldview is certainly a touch good-vs-evil, but her sense of what constitutes those things is rooted more in intention and action than in some sort of cosmic moral divide. It isn't important that you're good - it's important that you're trying, even . Up until the moment you disrespect her or show a purposeful intent to harm, she will treat you just as gently as she would her own gran, even if you're a gruesome monster from a toxic slime planet. Once that moment comes, though, you are firmly and aggressively within her bad graces. The best way to earn her hate is by hurting someone she cares about, though putting her planet in danger comes not too far behind. After that is violent crime, and then making fun of her height, and then way, way down after that is bank robbery, or something.
Despite her general positive intentions and "chaotic good" alignment, Clara is a skilled and chronicĀ liarĀ and practicedĀ manipulator, rattling off untruths to even her closest friends if she sees the need for it. Sometimes it's to gain an advantage against a foe - at which point she tends to pull out all the stops, coming up with deep and seamless lies with a completely straight face - but usually it's in order to maintain control over her environment (and the people in it). Even when her stories fall apart and her life collapses in, she lies and lies and keeps lying, one after the other, both harmless and cruel fibs alike.Ā There is also a running joke early on about Clara'sĀ control freakĀ tendencies, though "control freak" is a rather simple way of putting it, though. Clara is bossy, commanding, and can be a bit intense about getting what she wants. She reacts poorly to defiance or disrespect, says "shut up" a bit too often, and likes to have a finger on every player in the room. And whether it's the safety of a loved one or vengeance for one, she will use everything in her power to make things turn out her way, even if it makes her selfish or cruel. When her boyfriend is killed, she reacts with violent manipulation, trying to reverse it. When her best friend is faced with death, she utterly loses her cool and forbids him to die. She isn't fond of situations that are out of her control, and responds to them with hostility. In both cases, she also breaks serious moral standards in order to right things, demanding that time be rewritten. Interestingly, when it comes to her own death she is completely against that same best friend risking time and spaceĀ to save her. She is fully prepared to accept her own death, and is shown to be troublingly cavalier over the deaths of mere acquaintances, but when faced with a loved one's life on the line she goes full hurricane. Her biggest fears are not being in control and losing someone she loves, and in many ways the two are deeply related. You donāt die on her, because someone else will suffer for it, and she wonāt care if she dies in the process. Thereās a destructive streak in there, behind her big smile and excited prattling.
After the death of her boyfriend, Clara struggles with increasing recklessness. Instead of simply enjoying her travels, she begins running headlong into more and more dangerous situations, trying to leave behind her humanity and emulate the Doctor. While she is ever the kind, empathetic voice of human decency, she begins to take on some of his troubling quirks - she takes greater risks, shows less fear, and literally laughs in the face of life-threatening situations. The Doctor refers to it as an "ongoing problem". She's clever and quick and brave, but she isn't a millennia-old alien with regenerative capabilities. She's a human, functioning somewhere between "selfless", "careless", and "death wish", and her judgment, while informed, is limited. It's this particular demon that gets her killed, and she wonders aloud of that was what she had been hoping for the whole time. Even more unfortunate is the fact that, due to her best friend's deus ex machina, Clara's death only lands her with immortality. She has learned exactly nothing from the whole mishap; instead, she is now even more equipped to throw herself into perilous situations, just fueling her adrenaline addiction. Her fatal flaw is her hubris, an aggressive and fiery pride, and it still follows her even after it became her downfall.
Mask or Menace CRAU: In June of 2019, Clara gained memories of her time in Mask or Menace, as well as the superhuman abilities she had been granted there. For brevity's sake, the original CRAU request with all of its details can be found here.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: Because of her physical condition, it's going to be a little more difficult to kill her, since she has no need for blood, air, or her vital organs. But so that she's not immortal, Clara's head is going to be her vulnerable point. Any head injury that would kill a normal person will kill her, including decapitation.
Additionally, she has two powers gained in Mask or Menace: (1) smoke manipulation/mimicry (basically she can control smoke, as well as turn into it, usually taking the vague shape of a large raven), and (2) enhanced senses (sight, smell, vision, and hearing up to half a mile, and taste. She could also see in the dark. For power warping, I'd be nixing all the senses except the night vision, and when she gets distressed she will sometimes have difficulty maintaining human form.
